Courtly Elites in Medieval Kashmir according to the Rājataraṅgiṇīs written by Kalhaṇa, Jonarāja and Śrīvara
Based on a narratologically informed analysis and description of what the poets Kalhaṇa, Jonarāja and Śrīvara tell in their Rājataraṅgiṇīs about the lives of individual representatives of the ruling elites, as well as the way they tell it, the aim of the project is to collect and analyze forms and practices of participation in and execution of power by courtly elites in medieval Kashmir. The focus is on the question how the participation in and execution of power by the elites are represented and evaluated by the authors and what their related conceptions and convictions were.
